Guadalupe Mountains National Park: Hiking Trails for All Ages
Guadalupe Mountains National Park Our last stop in Texas during our 2024 Summer of Sunscreen…
Are you looking for a place to set up base camp while visiting the Ark Encounter in Kentucky? Unfortunately, if you are anything like me then you are not going to find a lot of options that are right off the highway and within a 20-minute drive from the Ark experience. Three Springs Campground located in Corinth Kentucky is approximately a 15-minute drive from the Ark Encounter. The campground is conveniently located right off Interstate 75 with an added bonus of a dollar general and a truck stop just up the road.
Three spring campground is not the largest nor the most extravagant campground we have stayed at. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in customer service. The staff at the campground was very friendly and helped us back right into our spot. They joked with us and never made me feel rushed. I appreciate that since I had to unhook my jeep before backing into our spot and I always feel rushed to get this done as fast as possible. Heck, the guy even came by later and offered to buy my jeep…. come to think of it I probably should have sold it to him.
The spots are close but not so close that I felt cramped. I honestly did even notice how close the sites were together until now that I am reviewing the photos of the campground. The spots felt open and back right up to a small creek, making it the perfect play place for the kids to keep themselves occupied. For the low price of this campground with the 50-amp service offered, it would be hard to find a better location for base camp.
There is not a playground on site at Three Springs Campground. What they have instead is way better than any playground could possibly be. They have rocks and a shallow creek. This allowed they kids to keep themselves occupied for hours. Honestly, they kind of kept me entertained as well. Killian was making a dam and building structures with large rocks. Jameson spent his time floating leaves and other objected down the stream seeing if he could make it past Killian dam. Watching them problem solve and try to beat out each other was very entertaining. Plus, not only was they having fun, they were learning how natures power is unstoppable and beautiful.
I highly recommend coming to check out Three Springs Campground. Make sure you make a reservation as this campground is extremely small. It consists of 1 loop road and once it is full, its full. We made our reservations a year early and had no issues being able to fit. If you are in a large RV, call as soon as possible. They have a very limited number of spots that are able to accommodate larger RV units. We had our 40ft diesel pusher plug jeep in a spot and it fit just fine. If I had anything larger than 42ft plus a dingy I think I would attempt to find a different place to stay.
