Guadalupe Mountains National Park: Hiking Trails for All Ages
Guadalupe Mountains National Park Our last stop in Texas during our 2024 Summer of Sunscreen…
After the long hot day of travel, pulling into the drive for Jetty Park campground in Port Canaveral Florida was a huge relief. Feeling the warm ocean breeze blowing, smelling the salty crisp clean air, listening to the birds chirping. The boys loved seeing the huge cruise ships as we made out way down the road to our campsite. Watching the roller coaster on top of one of the cruise ships running its course.
Checking in at the front security gate, check in was a breeze since all paperwork was done in advance and payment was already made. Speaking of payment this place is priced perfect! Go check out their website and be as surprised as I was for how cheap you can camp here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us the gate code, a map of the campsite and where we are to park, and off we went to park the RV. We got everything hooked up, get that AC running, and get the Jeep ready for a week at the beach. Jetty Park Campground offers water, sewer, and electric hook up. Offering 20-amp, 30 amp, and 50-amp service. Unfortunately, there is no cable hookups here, but you won’t need it. The beach, fishing pier, and port will keep you busy outside the camper.
Now one thing I recommend with Jetty Park Campsite is doing a google map search and look for a site that is shaded. There is not a lot of mature trees here and if you do not do your homework you will end up like us. At a spot without a single tree to shade us from the angry Florida sun. With us only having a single rooftop AC unit, it did make the camper very warm during the day. Only giving us comfort at night. With 2 rooftop AC units I feel that this would not have been as big of an issue as it was with us.
Once all set up I was very excited to find the beach and let the boys play in the sand. Not to mention I was excited to get in the water. Wow, what a pleasant surprise for us to learn that Jetty Park Campground is located right across a street to the beach. You walk out a secure gate located at the back of the park, walk across a parking lot on BOOM!!!! Insta-beach access.
It is beautiful here, the softest sand under our feet. Not busy at all, plenty of space for the kids to run and cover each other in sand. As much sea shells that a person can collect. Or in our case as much sea shells that the boys can gather and give to Mom to carry.
Boy oh boy the views are amazing. Just gorgeous views of the ocean, not to mention the amazing breeze off the water. What was the best thing for our boys to watch was all the cruise ships coming in and out of the port. We watched 3 Disney ships leaving port in our trip!!! The boys just loved seeing Mickey Mouse hanging off the back of the boat.
This trip for us was mostly for relaxing. We spent a lot of time in the ocean and a lot of time in the pool at our family condo. The first day at the beach was the worst with sea weed just invading everything. Seaweed was canvased over the beach! When we got in the water it was a strange feeling of a sea creature trying desperately to drag you out to sea, never to be seen again. After that first day we started to experience much stronger seas. With everyday being a red flag day, but the water cleared up and the seaweed moved on.
Now I have to admit, I love the beach and soaking up the sun. BUT my favorite time to be out there is at sunset and into the night. I cannot stand walking on the hot sand where it feels like I am tapdancing across the sun. So, we had a few nights to go out and walk the beach at night. Viewing the crabs running across the sand. Feeling the cold sand under our feet.
Walking the Jetty Park fishing pier and watching the tug boats come in and out. I must admit it was a peaceful place! You could feel all your stress and worries washing away with the sound of the waves. That is unless you are Jameson. He was not having any part of the fishing pier, and I completely understand it. The pier was raised above the water and Jameson got a little scared of the heights, so Kaitlin decided it was time to turn back and head to level ground while Killian and I bravely moved forward to the end of the pier.
One thing I think is worth noting about Jetty park Campground is the water pressure. Usually when we take the motorhome somewhere we either get such high pressure I am worried about busting lines. Or the water is spraying out of the faucet like a pressure washer. Yes, I know I can buy a flow restrictor. I do have one but it tends to take my pressure to low. The alternative is we get the pressure being so low that we can’t even take a decent shower. Here at Jetty Park Campground my wife and I agreed that this was the best shower we have EVER had while camping. It was perfect pressure and perfect flow without having to use the restrictor. To me, while staying for extended amount of time, a good hot shower that feels like home is extremely important.
