Discovering White Sands National Park: A Family Adventure in Nature’s Playground
White Sands National Park: Nature’s Playground WE FOUND SNOW IN NEW MEXICO!!!! Nah not really,…
Are you in the area of Mammoth Cave National Park and looking for good way to spend a few hours? Mabye looking for a good way to spend a few hundred dollars? Look no further than Dinosaur World! Located in Cave City Kentucky this park has 150 life sized dinosaur statues scattered throughout a natural scenery. Truly giving you the feeling of being taken back in time to a prehistoric world!
Curious on what I meant by a good way to spend a few hundred dollars? There is a gift shop located as soon as you walk into dinosaur world that has hundreds of authentic fossils, rocks, and castings. If you are a dinosaur lover and looking for a good souvenir to take back home with you? This is where you want to be! I had to force myself to not spend all of our fuel money on some really cool relics. These unique gifts I have never seen for sale at any other dinosaur exhibit we have visited.
Even though you cannot spend a whole day here, the kids will absolutely love spending time at Dinosaur World. I recommend giving yourself about 2 hours to explore the trail, gift shop, and dig site. At the dig site the boys really enjoyed being able to play in a HUGE sandbox! Uncovering large dinosaur fossils. Kaitlin and I did not have as much fun, as it was a rainy day in the middle of July. Making it feel about as close to the jungle as possible. I guess the plus side is it added to the authentic atmosphere of being in the Jurassic world. We spent just enough time here to no pass out! Then we headed to get outside for some fresh air.
When we visited Dinosaur World Killian was 5 and Jameson was 3. I believe this was a little young for the kids to really enjoy the park. Even though the statues are creative really well maintained. Dinosaurs are placed perfectly to spark your imagination. The boys became bored very quickly and spent much of the afternoon complaining. I think a few more years and they would have been obsessed about the entire experience. That was just my experience and maybe your children will find it exciting becoming filled with wonder. That was the experience I was hoping for but unfortunately was not able to accomplish. I do plan on trying this again in the future and seeing how they respond to it.
Looking for other attractions to visit while in the area? Please read our post about Mammoth Cave National Park and Kentucky Down Under Zoo. If your ready to purchase tickets for Dinosaur World please click here!
If you make good time with all 3 of these parks you will be able to fill an entire weekend of fun filled activities. So, you will need a place to set up camp for that weekend right? Check out this post for the perfect campsite right in the center of it all!
