Ashland/Huntington West KOA Holiday

We used Ashland/Huntington West KOA Holiday as a fast stop for the night while in transit on our way home from our summer 2022 trip to New River Gorge National Park and Shenandoah National Park. So, I don’t have a lot of experience with this campground. Nonetheless I wanted to share some things I did notice while we were there. The KOA is located just minutes off I-64. Making it the perfect place for an overnight rest while traveling to or from your destination.

With that being said I figured when we pulled into the Ashland/Huntington West KOA Holiday that we would see a handful of campers there and nobody really out and about. I was dead wrong. This campground was packed and it was full of kids laughing and families cooking together. It was a breath of fresh air. I could not help but think about staying here for a few more nights. Making it into a relaxing weekend stop. Our neighbors all was outside and super friendly. My kids enjoyed the pool (open from 5/29-10/15), playground, and pedal car track that was all littered with kids their age playing well together.

The campground can handle big rigs up to 85’ in length. Back in sites can handle up to 70’. All sites feature full hookups including up to 50-amp, water, sewer, and cable. The only real complaint I have is that the sites are very close to one another. Very small yard and tight roads that made me nervous heading to our pull through site with our 40’ camper pulling a jeep. As long as that is not a huge deal for you I would highly suggest staying here while passing through or even for a full weekend
